The Game Plan

Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson, playing Joe Kingman, becomes the ultimate girl dad when he unexpectedly has to become a full-time father in the movie “The Game Plan.” Joe Kingman is a professional quarterback who is only focused on football, his looks, and his successes. But Peyton, his unknown daughter, shows up at his doorstep one day and changes his life around. The story of this self-obsessed football player learning the fulfillment of being a loving father is heartwarming to say the least.

The Longshots

Based on a true story, “The Longshots” shows how Jasmine Plummer becomes the first girl to play quarterback in the history of Pop Warner football. This quiet 11-year-old girl is pushed and trained by her uncle Curtis, who is a former member of the team. Curtis acts as a father figure and mentor in Jasmine’s life, as her biological father is not in the picture. This story exemplifies Jasmine’s journey beating the odds in a male-dominant sport with the help from her supportive uncle.

Soul Surfer

“Soul Surfer” tells the true story of Bethany Hamilton, a champion surfer who survived a shark attack which resulted in the loss of her arm. Hamilton shows true determination when she refuses to give up her passion for surfing after the attack. With the support from her loving family, friends, and faith, she returns to the water to reclaim a championship title. Bliss Cavendar is an awkward teen who dreadfully is involved in beauty pageants under the control of her mother. However, Bliss is sparked with excitement and inspiration when she attends her first roller derby. She secretly tries out and competes with a team of under-dogs in a big city all while keeping the secret from her strict parents. “Whip It” shows how a small-town girl follows her passions and eventually receives support from her strict parents.

He becomes one of the most dominating high school football players in the country and part of a loving family. A true underdog story.

Million Dollar Baby

Wanting to learn from the best, aspiring boxer Maggie Fitzgerald wants Frankie Dunn to train her. Frankie lives a very lonely life, alienated from his only daughter and having few friends. After having no interest, he recognizes her grit in the ring and pursuit of glory and decides to take on the challenge. Stick It

“Stick Itis centered around Haley Graham, who was once considered one of the most talented gymnasts in the nation. The key word here is “once,” as she disqualifies herself by walking away from Team USA during an important final match. She starts getting into trouble and after a run-in with the law, she is forced to return to elite gymnastics and to the world she fled from. She enrolls in an elite gymnastics program run by the legendary Burt Vickerman where her rebellious attitude gives way to something that just might be called team spirit.

Trouble With The Curve

“Trouble With The Curve” is centered around a daughter hoping to remedy a dysfunctional relationship with her ailing father through the game of baseball. Gus Lobel, who is a decorated baseball scout is feeling pressure to retire as the team is questioning his judgment and believes his sight is starting to fail. The doctor tells Gus he should get his eyes treated, but he insists on doing his scouting assignment. His daughter, Mickey, accompanies him to North Carolina to assist and wants him to explain why he pushed her away.
