The Next Great Sport In America Might Just Be Bubble Soccer

Bubble soccer might just be the best game you’ve never heard of or played. Ok, it looks exactly soccer, but there is really one main difference – players must wear a plastic bubble that covers their head and torso. The bubble weighs around 25 pounds and offers great protection. You definitely don’t have to worry about concussions in this sport.

The game of bubble soccer was created in Norway back in 2011 by Henrik Elvestad and Johan Golden. Most leagues have teams that employ six players a side while playing four, 8-minute quarters. As in soccer, whichever team scores the most goals, wins.

The first-ever Bubble Soccer World Cup took place in 2018 in Wembley Stadium in London. It is currently being played in 37 states in America.

The rules don’t let players go head or “bubble” hunting, but it’s definitely an aggressive sport. Organizers do try to keep it safe by enforcing rules that prohibit attacking from checking into a wall or fences.

This game certainly looks like a whole lot of fun.
