USA Weightlifting Shows Its Strength On The World Stage
USA Weightlifting is the national governing body that presides over the sport of weightlifting in the United States. Based in Colorado Springs, Colorado, USAW is a member of the U.S. Olympic Committee and is responsible for producing weightlifting programs and events throughout the country.
Top competitors are chosen by USAW to compete in major events like the Olympic Games, World Championships, World Junior Championships, Pan American, Championships and Pan American Games.
USA Weightlifting has partnered with GoodSport to provide content for all their social media platforms. GoodSport followed their top lifters as they marched toward the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo, which ended up being rescheduled to 2021 due to the global coronavirus pandemic.
GoodSport was there for USA Weightlifting’s camp in Atlanta where all the athletes came together to get instruction, testing, and conditioning programs from the USAW coaches and trainers. Sarah Robles, who will be going to a third Olympic games, talked about the experience of representing the country in international competition.
“My family and I are very patriotic folk,” said Robles. “I would be remiss to not take any opportunity to represent my country. I love the United States and the things that it stands for. To be on the podium to see the flag raised and listen to the Star-Spangled Banner is always a happy one,” she said.
